Finishing third in the Century League with a record of 4-4-3, girls’ soccer headed into CIF with a first round match up against Corona del Mar High School. However, the Wildcats’ time in the playoffs was ended abruptly as they lost to Corona del Mar, 1-0.

“It was very frustrating,” said Lauren Lastra, junior and captain. “We thought we could have at least advanced from the first round, but things did not go our way. It was just really disappointing as expectations heading into the playoffs were to improve from last year’s first round exit.”

Corona del Mar came into CIF as the number one seed from the Pacific Coast League, but this did not affect the outcome of the game.

“We definitely could have beaten them,” said Ashley Cooper, senior. “Heading into CIF, I thought we could have gone farther than we did.”

This is the second year in a row that the team lost in the first round of the playoffs. Last year the team lost to Flintridge Sacred Heart High School, 3- 0.

The team had a successful season, finishing with an overall record of 11- 9-6, while fielding many young players including three starting freshman.
