Willert writes sequel to Dimensions series

The magic that began in the novel Dimension I: The Wheat Field continues in Dave Willert’s second novel, Dimensions II: The Plethora. A journey through a variety of dimensions, characters and revelations, Dimensions II: The Plethora, published by Outskirts Press at end of October.
When asked what had inspired him to write the second novel, Willert said that after completing Dimensions: The Wheat Field last year, he realized that the story was incomplete. He decided to write the sequel to continue the story and remain focused more on the mystery of the dimension.
The novel begins with the main character, Bill Myers, disappearing to another dimension in a sudden burst of light after being threatened with his life. Subsequently, other characters fall into situations that change their lives dramatically.
For instance, Joe Davis is accused of stealing half a million dollars after being hired to solve that same robbery; and Alan and Mary Dunkirk are on opposite sides of the dimension Bill has fallen into as they attempt to simultaneously solve the mystery.
Willert wants readers to further explore the characters, and also engage the mystery that is to be solved about the dimensions.
Willert believes that in Dimension II: The Plethora, “there are more outrageous and entertaining stories going on than there were in my first book.”
“The second book spends a lot of time explaining what the dimensions are and literally on how they work. It also gives a great deal of more profundity to the story and adds numerous new subplots,” Willert said.
Roxanne Clark, junior, and a student in Willert’s choir said, “The book was really suspenseful and mysterious. It also taught me a lot of life lessons and to have different aspects of seeing things.”
After finishing The Plethora, Willert was inspired to add two more books to the series for a total of four books in over four
years.
“I began this novel right after I had finished the book signing for Dimension I: The Wheat Field. The story evolved throughout the year, and I altered the story whenever I was struck with inspiration,” Willert said. “I believe that my finished project has had a great deal more depth, and a number of new subplots that added to the overall mystery of the dimensions.”
The Plethora was not completed until this past summer, as Willert worked steadily from June to September and submitted the manuscript for publication in the beginning of October.
Having already learned so much while writing his first novel, Willert was able to handle writing the second book more easily as he returned to teach for the school year. He already had major characters and the Plethora planned out and to work with before he even started the sequel.
“The book reads quickly as the plots are interesting and mesmerizing but the characters are more complex and at the end of the book, I smile. It’s a very fun ride that I believe can be relatable to anyone who reads it,” Willert said.
Many of Willert’s choir students have taken interest in his book series and have read both of the novels. They look forward to reading the remaining two books in the series as Willert completes them over the next two years.
“It was interesting. It took me to a whole different dimension where it felt like someone was watching over you,” said Jennifer Cao, sophomore
“The Dimensions series sort of capped my love for writing as I wrote complete novels for the first time. I feel like I am improving the final product and my writing skills each time that I go through it, so no matter how long it takes, this process seems very worthwhile,” Willert said.
His third novel, Dimensions III: The Cloud Monsters, will introduce a completely new set of characters and focus on a boy named Alex in a mysterious town. The novel is scheduled to be released next year.
